The Pan American Society of Neurovirology (PASNV), a non profit organization, endeavors to eradicate and treat viral infections in the nervous system.

To fulfill our mission, the PASNV board has set the following aims for the advancement of education, research and leadership across the Americas:


  • Provide educational opportunities within the Pan American medical science community to study cutting edge neurosciences and viral epidemics.
  • Organize scientific forums to discuss the most significant and timely topics in the field of neurovirology.
  • To be a source of continuing education to students, clinicians, scientists and the public at large, on neuroviruses including HIV/AIDS, herpes, cancers and multiple sclerosis.


  • Investigate current threats of viral epidemics in the nervous system.
  • Understand the role of viruses within cancers, neurodegenerative and psychiatric diseases.
  • Explore viruses as potential gene therapies.


  • Create MD and PhD programs in neurovirology throughout Latin America and the Caribbean.
  • Build infrastructure to house PASNV Centers of Excellency throughout the Americas for translation research.
  • Empower and encourage Pan American leaders to invest in education and research in matters of neurosciences and virology.
